AGT Solar Selected to Complete Rooftop Solar Project for Ontario LDC, PowerStream Inc.

PowerStream Inc., (PowerStream), a municipally-owned local electricity distribution company (LDC) in Ontario, Canada has awarded Advanced Green Technologies (AGT SOLAR) with a contract to provide engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services for a 91 kilowatt (kWdc) commercial solar photovoltaic (PV) array located on the roof of the East Bayfield Community Centre in Barrie, Ontario.

“We are tremendously honored to have entered into a Master Agreement for Turnkey Roof-Mounted Solar Installation with PowerStream. We see LDC ownership of solar projects as a natural evolution and an area that has significant growth opportunities under the new FIT 2.0 Program.” said Graham Smith, Executive Vice President of AGT SOLAR.

The East Bayfield Community Centre Solar Project is under construction and is projected to be finished by the end of summer 2012. The system is utilizing Ontario-produced products from manufacturers HB Solar, Advanced Energy, and Canadian Solar. AGT SOLAR is working in cooperation with Dial One Wolfedale Electric; one of Canada’s premier electrical contractors, to complete the project.

Upon completion of the East Bayfield Community Centre Project, AGT SOLAR will surpass the 5 Megawatt (MW) mark of installed commercial rooftop solar under the Ontario Power Authority’s (OPA) Feed in Tariff Program (FIT and MicroFIT); marking approximately 15.4% of the total installed rooftop solar PV capacity in the Province.

“While we have completed a lot of work in Ontario with Independent Power Producers (IPP) and Solar Developers, this is our first project working with an Ontario-based utility. This is incredibly important because, we feel that by synergizing our relationships with IPP, Solar Developers, and utilities we will be able to expedite the FIT application process and continue to be one of Ontario’s largest EPC contractors,” said Graham Smith, Executive Vice President of AGT SOLAR.

AGT SOLAR offers assistance to those looking to submit or re-submit their FIT applications under the new rules. For more information on this project or other commercial solar PV opportunities within Ontario, please contact Graham Smith at 877-633-6633; grahams@agt.com or visit www.agt.com.
