AMEC secures EPC contract for three US solar projects

AMEC, a UK-based engineering and project management company, has secured an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract from Dominion American energy providers, to design and construct three solar projects in Indiana.

The three projects, namely Indy Solar I, Indy Solar II and Indy Solar III, will be located in Marion County and are estimated to generate a maximum combined output of 28.6MW of electricity.

As per the terms of the agreement, AMEC will provide EPC services, including engineering, procurement of equipments like solar panels, construction, and connection to the local electrical distribution system and commissioning.

AMEC vice president Tom Dodson said that the collaboration with Dominion to develop its largest generation-scale solar facility enhances the company’s solar expertise.

“We are currently providing EPC services for Dominion on a 7.7 megawatt solar installation near Augusta, Georgia and look forward to demonstrating our leading knowledge and expertise in delivering complete solutions for these solar developments,” Dodson added.

Meanwhile, the solar projects will employ standard photovoltaic technology with a fixed-tilt system, JinkoSolar modules, Array Technologies’ racking and SMA inverters.

Commercial production from the projects is scheduled in late 2013. Indianapolis Power and Light will procure the output from the facilities through a 15-year power purchase agreement.
