Siemens Canada extends wind turbine service contract with Kruger Energy

Siemens Canada, a unit of Siemens Energy, has signed a 10-year wind power service contract at Kruger Energy’s Port Alma and Chatham Kent wind energy plants in Ontario.

The company, pursuant to the contract has agreed to provide service and maintenance of the 48 SWT-2.3-93 and 40 SWT-2.3-101 wind turbines at both plants.

Siemens will also executive a Power Curve Upgrade for blade modernization at 44 SWT-2.3-93 units of Port Alma and four SWT-2.3-93 units of Chatham Kent.

Located on the shores of Lake Erie, each wind plant was designed for a capacity of 100MW and can together generate enough electricity to power 60,000 households in Ontario every year.

Siemens Energy, energy service division’s service renewables CEO Tim Holt said that the company would offer flexible, reliable and cost effective solutions to both plants, drawing from its prior experience as the original equipment supplier for the wind turbines.

“We look forward to working with Kruger Energy as their service provider for these important renewable energy projects, which provide clean energy to homes in Canada,” Holt added.
