PHYDO seeks approval for 19.6MW hydroelectric projects in Pakistan

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) of Pakistan has received applications from Pakhtunkhwa Hydel Development Organization (PHYDO), for the construction of two small hydroelectric projects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province with total capacity of 19.6MW.

PHYDO’s hydroelectric projects include a 2.6MW project in the Mardan district and a 17MW plant in Kohistan.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the northwest region of Pakistan has a potential of hydroelectric activity, with the existing Tarbela and Warsak projects.

Sarhad Hydel Development Organization noted that the country is anticipated to add approximately 6,000MW of hydro power over the next coming years.
