ACCIONA Windpower to supply 93MW of wind turbines in Brazil

ACCIONA Windpower (AWP) has secured a contract to supply, operate and maintain 93MW wind farms located in North East Brazil, jointly owned by Voltalia, CHESF and Encalso.

As per the contract, the company will supply 31 AW125/3000 and AW116/3000 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 3MW. The turbines are set to be mounted on 120m high concrete towers, built with innovative construction system intended at cutting down transport costs and environmental impacts.

ACCIONA Windpower Director in Brazil Christiano Forman said that it is an important agreement, involving leading players in the wind power development that is taking place in Brazil and confirms the competitiveness of the company’s technology and the particular suitability of the AW3000 wind turbines, which are more powerful and have a rotor diameter more in line with the wind potential of large areas of Brazil.

“We are delighted to be working together with Voltalia, CHESF and Encalso in the implementation of this project, which strengthens our position in the country,” added Forman.

The AW 125/3000 IIIa has a swept area of 12,305 m2, while the AW 116/3000 IIa has a swept surface area of 10,568 m2. Further, the agreement also includes operation and maintenance works for a period of 15 years.
