Doosan Škoda Power has signed a contract with Fortum Power and Heat Polska Sp. z.o.o for the delivery of a complete turbo-set with an output of 75MWe for the construction of a new power block in Zabrze, Poland. In addition, the contract also includes the delivery and assembly of the district heater exchanger system along with the steam turbine and generator set.

Once complete, the plant will operate in cogeneration mode, which combines electrical and heat production. This solution allows for efficient use of primary fuel and leads to a higher efficiency in the plant.

The plant is scheduled to be commissioned for the third quarter of 2018 with the new units delivering heating and electricity to around 70,000 households in Zabrze and Bytom at the same time.

As a producer of key energy technologies with flexible solutions, Doosan Škoda Power has consistently acquired market share in Eastern Europe. Doosan Škoda Power constantly cooperates with local service centres, allowing Doosan to deliver integrated solutions while reducing time and costs associated with projects at the same time. Currently the company is executing new build contracts in cities such as Stalowa Wola (160 MW), Tychy (65 MW), Mondi Świecie (77 MW) and EC Nowa (55 MW).
