Boralex Incorporated, Gaz Métro Limited partnership and Valener Incorporated have secured an environmental authorization from the Québec Ministry of Sustainable Development, Environment, Wildlife and Parks for phase II of the Seigneurie de Beaupré wind farms in Québec, Canada.

The Seigneurie de Beaupré wind farms will be developed on a land owned by the Séminaire de Québec, which is located on the north of St-Tite-des-caps near Quebec City. The entire Seigneurie de Beaupré project involves development of four wind farms in two phases of 272MW and 68MW respectively.

The phase II involves development of the fourth wind farm located in the Côte-de-Beaupré region. The project is expected to start operation in late 2014. The power generated at the site can offset power requirements of 60,000 households.

With the environmental authorization in place, the developers plan to trigger the project into the next phase, which involves working on the applications for construction permits and arranging financing with financial institutions.
