LatWind, a long-standing Trusted Service Provider of ZX Lidars, has successfully deployed a ZX 300 wind Lidar in support of a major wind measurement campaign for EDF power solutions Chile in South Patagonia. The deployment will capture wind data across an extensive site featuring complex terrain, enhancing wind flow modelling and significantly reducing resource uncertainty during the development phase of the large-scale wind energy project planned.
The campaign, fully managed and executed by LatWind, included a complete suite of services: Lidar supply and operation, Lidar-to-tower verification, and comprehensive data campaign management. The ZX 300 wind Lidar is well- known for providing accurate and reliable wind data, even in remote and challenging environments such as these. Its proven reliability in clean air conditions makes it well-suited to Chile’s diverse geographic and climatic conditions.
Tomás Dattwyler, Commercial Manager at LatWind said: “We are delighted to have successfully implemented a ZX 300 wind Lidar for EDF power solutions Chile in such a challenging environment as Chilean Patagonia.”
“Working with ZX Lidars throughout the years has contributed great value to our customers. We have deployed ZX wind Lidars in various locations across Chile, from the Atacama Desert to other extreme environments, such as Magallanes. In wind flow models, we have seen an important reduction in wind resource uncertainty by using remote sensing, including sites with complex wind flow.”
This project reinforces the role of advanced remote sensing in improving bankability and decision-making for utility- scale wind energy developments across Latin America.
