GE Vernova has been awarded a contract to provide 17 onshore wind turbines for a new wind energy development in Fortore, Benevento, Italy. The installation is expected to deliver an output of more than 100MW. Renewable energy operator IVPC Group granted the contract to GE Vernova as part of the project’s development. The Fortore wind farm was also among the largest projects approved during a December 2025 auction conducted by Italy’s energy agency, Gestore dei Servizi Energetici.
Under the agreement, GE Vernova will supply turbines rated at 6.1MW each, incorporating two-piece blade technology. Deliveries are scheduled to take place in the second quarter of 2027 (Q2 2027). The turbine design is intended to improve transportability and accessibility to installation sites while maintaining efficient energy production. Commenting on the project, GE Vernova onshore wind business in international markets chief commercial officer Gilan Sabatier said: “We are honoured to extend our collaboration with IVPC Group on the Fortore wind farm.
“The project strengthens our presence in the country and our commitment to the European energy transition, while highlighting how our 6.1MW–158m technology gives operators a competitive edge in auctions through large-scale, sustainable energy delivery.
“We look forward to continuing our strong collaboration with IVPC as we support Italy’s energy transition goals.”
The companies also finalised an agreement in Q4 2025 under which GE Vernova will provide a customised operations and maintenance solution. The arrangement establishes a collaborative approach between IVPC and GE Vernova, with both parties responsible for handling transactional maintenance activities. This latest project expands on earlier cooperation between the two organisations, including the installation of the first Cypress 6.1MW wind turbine at IVPC’s Montefalcone site. That project involves repowering initiatives designed to increase capacity and prolong the operational life of the wind facility.
IVPC Group owner and president Oreste Vigorito said: “Building on the success of the Monfalcone project, we continue to choose GE Vernova for the flexibility of its service model allowing us to lead transactional maintenance and for its advanced split-blade technology, which enables deployment in locations with logistical constraints.”
Globally, GE Vernova’s Onshore Wind division has installed approximately 59,000 turbines, representing nearly 120GW of capacity. Within Italy, the company manages around 135MW of wind power projects and provides maintenance services through its Wind Service Team located in Troia (Foggia) and other areas. GE Vernova has been active in Italy’s power sector for more than a century and currently contributes about one-quarter of the country’s power capacity.
Separately, in December 2025 the company also signed an agreement with Greenvolt Power to supply onshore wind turbines for the Gurbanesti wind farm in Călărași county, Romania.
