Europe is on the brink of harnessing a novel energy source, which is found beneath the waves of the North Sea, and it is getting closer to making this innovation an actual reality.

There are scientists who are learning more about the usage of green hydrogen. If they become successful when it comes to unlocking the secure, clean energy supply, Europe is going to reinforce its role as a worldwide leader in renewable energy. This could also lead to jobs, economic growth, and innovation throughout the sectors.

It is well to be noted that green hydrogen happens to be a renewable energy source that is obtained by way of a chemical process called electrolysis that splits water molecules into hydrogen as well as oxygen. The fact is that once the technology as well as the infrastructure are in place and reach their total potential, it is predicted to produce almost 45,000 tons of clean energy.

Apparently, the North Sea has reportedly gone on to become the future frontier for energy innovation. The shallow waters as well as the fast wind energy potential happen to be an ideal combination when it comes to installing offshore wind farms.

As per the Caring Minds Unit (CMU), these farms happen to be designed in order to generate almost 300 gigawatts of electricity, offering clean power, which is essential for producing green hydrogen by way of a process called electrolysis. The resulting hydrogen is green just because it creates no harmful carbon emissions during the process of production, therefore making it an ideal solution that replaces fossil fuels in industries, transportation, and home heating.

One of the ways to go about this happens to be the windcatcher system, which is described as a floating wall of turbines that captures wind from various angles. Large-scale production when it comes to green hydrogen still faces some barriers, especially costs. It is indeed a very heavy investment in technology as well as infrastructure so as to produce the renewable energy source, and there is no uniform regulation on the production as yet. However, the short- as well as long-term objectives are to enhance energy output and to make green hydrogen an acceptable, accessible, and affordable source for mass usage.
