SGF-IEC Week 2023 draws together Power Grid Standardisation Experts in October 2023 in Amsterdam, for a week-long review of the latest evolutions and future applications of IEC 61850, IEC CIM, and IEC

For the past 10 years Smart Grid Forums have facilitated crucial conversations between utilities, product suppliers and sector advisors, on the subject of IEC standards. These forums place the utility experience front and centre and create a safe space for the review and critique of international standards such as IEC 61850, IEC CIM, and IEC 62443.

This year Smart Grid Forums is pleased to co-locate its 3 most prominent standardisation forums in one location at one time, on 16-20 October 2023 at the Park Plaza Amsterdam Airport, to give utility standards experts and their technical teams the opportunity to deep dive into the latest lessons learnt from implementing the standards, as well as explore the interworking implications of related standards.

“There has been a significant shift in the market recently that we are pleased to reflect in this year’s forum” says Mandana White, CEO of Smart Grid Forums. “Never before has the appetite for standardisation information from the wider power grid community been so high, we are excited by the prospect of welcoming many more participants to this year’s discussion to help drive the large-scale adoption of these standards across the power grid”.

The week-long event opens with a series of practical hands-on workshops on the fundamental building blocks of IEC 61850, IEC CIM, and IEC 62443, providing participants with firm foundations in these standards. The 3-day main conference and exhibition then focuses on implementation experiences with these standards across a range of power grid architectures. The week wraps up with a communication briefing to help standardisation experts influence their Boards with greater ease by learning to translate complex engineering information into clear and concise organisational priorities.

With 40+ utility case-studies scheduled to take place across the 3-day main conference, this is the only IEC standards forum worldwide that amplifies the voice of the utility, leverages critique to create clarity and collaboration, and catalyses powerful partnerships that get the market moving at the pace of digital transformation.
