Energy firm EDF Group has selected InStep Software’s predictive asset analytics software to monitor its nuclear power plant fleet in France.
Under the deal, EDF will use InStep’s PRiSM software for continuous real-time asset monitoring of 58 nuclear units at 19 sites.
InStep said the software will be used to identify and alert personnel of subtle changes in equipment behavior to provide early indication and diagnosis of asset health and performance problems.
EDF has been using PRiSM software since 2008 to centrally monitor its TAC and hydro, as well as other fossil-fuel facilities.
The software will allow the firm to improve the availability and reliability of critical nuclear assets, prioritize maintenance optimization and reduce operation, as well as maintenance costs.
Benoit Richard of EDF Group said the company will continue to invest in advanced technology that supports reliable and safe power generation to deliver a sustainable source of electricity to homes and businesses in France and across the world.
“PRiSM gives us an advanced online monitoring solution capable of supporting our needs for the early identification and diagnosis of equipment related issues,” Richard added.
