Electrobrás Termonuclear Electronuclear (ETN) has awarded a contract worth SEK 600m ($84.1m) to ÅF for the ANGRA 3 Nuclear Power Station in Brazil.

The ANGRA 3 Nuclear Power Station is located at the Central Nuclear Almirante Álvaro Alberto (CNAAA) in Angra dos Reis, Rio de Janeiro, and is administered by ETN.

The contract includes the 3D modelling of the piping, ventilation and electrical engineering design, technical support services and the as-built design for the nuclear island buildings of the nuclear power station. ÅF Finland will manage the project along with numerous local sub-contractors.

The company will start the project in the third quarter of 2012 and the project is expected to be completed in 2019.  ÅF group previously too won a contract worth SEK 100m ($14m) consulting services under the category of Owner’s Engineering Responsibilities for the construction of ETN’s third reactor at the CNAAA, which will be managed by ÅF Switzerland.
