Origis Energy USA and RES announced the selection of RES to construct the Origis Energy Tanglewood Solar project, a 57.5 MW(ac) solar farm in Mitchell County, Georgia. Origis Energy developed the solar site as one of the facilities under the Georgia Power Renewable Energy Development Initiative (REDI) serving the utility’s customers participating in the Commercial and Industrial REDI (C&I REDI) program. This contract represents the first construction partnership between Origis Energy and RES. Origis Energy will own and operate the facility.

Johan Vanhee, Chief Commercial Officer & Chief Procurement Officer for Origis Energy, said, “Our goal in contracting with RES is to utilize their 35 years of building energy projects to the success of this plant in Georgia. We are fully confident the RES team will deliver on our mutual goals.”

Tanglewood Solar is one of two solar plants under the Georgia Power C&I REDI program announced in April 2018. Construction on the Camilla, GA based project began in June 2019. Tanglewood Solar represents continued solar development in Camilla, GA by both firms.

“RES is delighted to be working with Origis Energy USA to deliver the Tanglewood Solar project,” says Tim Jordan, Vice President of Construction at RES. “We look forward to continuing to build business and community relationships in Mitchell County.”

RES reports construction of the solar farm will employ approximately 200-250 laborers, operators and electricians at peak construction periods. The company is committed to hiring and procuring goods and services locally as much as possible and especially encourages women and veterans to apply.

The full Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract will utilize NEXTracker’s smart solar tracker system and approximately 180,000 First Solar Series 6 modules.
