Nordic leading fuel cell company PowerCell Sweden AB (publ) has received the first order for its ‘next generation’ fuel cell stack platform, the S2.  “We are very happy that the Hannover fair gained good attraction to the new stack platform and resulted in our first sale of the S2 platform”, said Andreas Bodén, Director of Marketing and Sales Manager at PowerCell Sweden AB.

The leading fuel cell company PowerCell Sweden launched the next-generation fuel cell stack platform, S2, at the Hannover Fair in April this year, which gained great interest from the industry. This has now led to the company receiving its first order for the S2 platform. A German company has ordered two fuel cell stacks of the S2 platform of 25 kW each. The fuel cell stacks will be delivered in August and September

“We are very happy that the Hannover fair gained good attraction to the new stack platform and resulted in our first sale of stacks from the S2 platform. To get the S2 fuel cell stack platform into production and start to sell it is also one of the main goals for PowerCell Sweden this year”, said Andreas Bodén, Director of Marketing and Sales at PowerCell Sweden AB.

The S2 platform complements the company’s first generation fuel cell stack, the S1 (1-5 kW), as it covers a larger power range from 5 kW up to 25 kW, still with the same tolerance towards CO and reformate gas as S1.  Another feature is the capability for extensive starts and stops. This feature means that battery buffers can be kept to a minimum. PowerCell S2 fuel cell stack platform is; efficient, unique, patented and designed for low-pressure drop.

PowerCell has developed fuel cell technologies for more than a decade, and has perfected a unique design that enables the production of a light, versatile and reliable source of power for automotive, transportation and stationary applications. PowerCell’s S2 fuel cell stack can run on pure hydrogen, but also be part of a fuel cell system, ‘Powerpac’, which converts gas into electricity in an energy efficient and environmentally friendly manner, with minimal exhaust emissions and quiet operations.
