SEEPEX has launched Smart Joint Access (SJA), an inspection-focused pump configuration engineered for demanding industrial settings where uptime and reliability are essential. Incorporated into the BN progressive cavity pump, the new design pairs a compact footprint with direct visual access to both joints through a large opening in the suction housing. This configuration allows operators to assess component condition efficiently while maintaining accurate handling of shear-sensitive, abrasive, or corrosive media.
The BN pump equipped with SJA has been developed with space-constrained environments in mind. It is suited for mobile manufacturing units, underground installations, and skid-mounted or stationary systems. Its adaptable integration and low-energy operation are intended to deliver dependable performance in applications where unplanned downtime cannot be tolerated.
Rock Blasting: Precision Under Pressure
Rock blasting remains fundamental to mining, tunneling, and construction activities. These operations depend on the accurate and consistent loading of explosive emulsions to ensure controlled fragmentation and sustained productivity. Variations in pumping performance can disrupt blasting accuracy, leading to inconsistencies, rework, or project delays.
To address these requirements, SEEPEX BN pumps featuring SJA are configured for operational precision. The design enables quick and straightforward access to the joints, supporting dependable emulsion transfer and accurate dosing. This makes the pump particularly appropriate for blast hole loading and other critical chemical handling processes.
“Smart Joint Access enhances availability and operational efficiency for our customers,” said Magalie Levray, Global Business Development Manager Mining at SEEPEX. “Operators gain direct access to the joints through the large inspection opening, reduce downtime, and rely on consistent, precise pumping of viscous, shear-sensitive, and abrasive emulsions. In rock blasting, where every borehole matters, this reliability is essential.”
Inspection-Friendly Design for High Availability
Smart Joint Access has been developed to streamline inspection procedures and reduce maintenance time. The inspection opening integrated into the suction housing provides immediate visual access to both joints, enabling shorter inspection intervals and supporting high operational reliability.
The pump incorporates an equal-wall stator, allowing high-pressure performance within a compact footprint. Depending on application requirements, it can be fitted with a compact hydraulic drive for truck-mounted mobile units or an electric drive for underground or stationary installations. A low-displacement hydraulic option reduces oil consumption and contributes to a lower total cost of ownership.
SEEPEX progressive cavity pump technology delivers stable, controlled flow while safeguarding product integrity, including when transferring highly abrasive or shear-sensitive emulsions. The available material configurations include stainless steel or steel housings, chrome-plated rotors, and stators manufactured in NBR, EPDM, or FKM. These options provide compatibility across a broad spectrum of chemical emulsions.
Framework agreements are designed to facilitate rapid delivery and dependable availability, enabling standardized pump configurations and fleet-wide implementation with minimal downtime.
Applications
BN pumps equipped with Smart Joint Access are applicable across rock blasting, shotcrete, mine dewatering, tunneling, civil works, dam construction, and additional industrial processes requiring accurate and reliable management of chemical or abrasive media. Within blasting operations, routine visual inspection of the joints, together with operational pressure testing, is critical. Smart Joint Access allows operators to verify joint integrity promptly, enabling faster decisions and uninterrupted performance in uptime-critical environments.
