Solar is set to remain in the limelight in 2017 as the entire industry returns strong growth. India is expected to increase installed solar capacity to more than 17 GW by the end of 2017.
Intersolar India displays all current trends from December 5-7 from around 260 exhibitors to more than 12,000 international solar and energy storage experts
According to Mercom Capital Group about 10 GW of solar will be installed in calendar year 2017 in India and roughly 8 GW more will be installed in 2018. The solar project pipeline in India is now approximately 13 GW. Currently, about 6 GW of tendered projects are awaiting auction.
With continued large scale integration of solar power into the grid, the manageable threshold is fast approaching and the time for introducing grid scale energy storage system has arrived. Battery energy storage systems turns out to be the most preferred among the storage systems.
India’s ambitious strategy to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles requires a concerted and coordinated effort that brings together the best of the private and public sectors in transport, infrastructure and energy. Electric mobility solutions and energy storage systems have additionally the potential to actively shape India’s future energy system.
