Northern Offshore has been awarded a contract by Camac Energy for the drillship Energy Searcher.

Under the long-term drilling contract, Northern Offshore will deliver the rig to the Oyo field in OML 120 offshore Nigeria to begin drilling operations in the first half of 2014.

The contract covers an initial period of one year, with an option to extend the contract for an additional one-year. Camac Energy plans to utilize the rig on its multi-year, high-impact development and exploration portfolio.

The Energy Searcher drilling to total depths of up to 25,000ft, and in water depths of up to 2,500ft. Camac Energy chairman and CEO Kase Lawal said, “We are pleased to have executed the rig contract with Northern Offshore, which builds on our relationship, and ensures a highly capable and efficient rig to execute on our transformational development and exploration program in 2014 and beyond.”
