The Nuclear Decommissioning and Used Fuel Strategy Summit confirmed for 1-2 October, Charlotte NC – organized by Nuclear Energy Insider

Nuclear decommissioning is a subject currently undergoing intense study in the USA, with 5 units in the country having been prematurely closed in the last 2 years. With this topic making the news in a big way, Nuclear Energy Insider has organized The Nuclear Decommissioning and Used Fuel Strategy Summit to take place on 1-2 October in Charlotte, NC.

The closure of these 5 units has led to questions about what happens to the nuclear used fuel from the reactors, as there is currently no waste management solution in place. As a result, it is more important than ever for nuclear utilities and contractors to ‘achieve a safe and cost effective transition into decommissioning and used fuel activities by implementing the latest regulatory guidance and industry lessons learned’ – exactly what the conference promises to offer.

Focusing on ensuring safety in a cost-effective way, The Nuclear Decommissioning and Used Fuel Strategy Summit has already confirmed a number of big name speakers and sponsors from across the nuclear industry. These include Gold Sponsors AREVA and AREVA TN and Silver Sponsor GE Hitachi, with all three of these firms both speaking on the agenda and exhibiting at the event.

The summit will also feature senior speakers from Exelon, Entergy, Dominion, Duke, ZionSolutions, PG&E, FirstEnergy and Yankee Atomic, along with regulatory updates from the NRC and the Department of Energy. The organizers have confirmed the attendance of representatives from all of the shut down power plants in the USA, including Kewaunee, Crystal River, Vermont Yankee, SONGS, Humboldt Bay, Zion and more; while attendees that have already booked their places for the two day summit include SCE (SONGS), Bechtel, Westinghouse, NAC International, WorleyParsons and more.

With senior industry speakers, keynote presentations on the future of America’s energy policy, new procurement initiatives and more, this promises to be a must-attend event for all those involved in the nuclear decommissioning and used fuel industries.

Siobhan O’Meara, Senior Industry Analyst, Nuclear Energy Insider says, “We are delighted to announce the dates, expert speaker line-up and full 2-day agenda for the premier Nuclear Decommissioning and Used Fuel Strategy Summit. Building on the success of our previous end of life cycle meetings, the Summit will attract over 200 of the world’s senior decision makers from across the nuclear decommissioning and used fuel industries.”

Secure your place alongside these senior industry experts before July 11 and save $600 on your conference pass! Register here.
