Dominion, US-based energy generation company, has acquired three solar-power development projects with capacity totaling 28.6MW near Indianapolis, Indiana from Sunrise Energy Ventures.
The three projects – Indy Solar I, Indy Solar II and Indy Solar III, are expected to use standard photovoltaic technology with a fixed-axis system to generate electricity.
The operational commencement of the projects are scheduled by 2013-end. Dominion Generation CEO David Christian said the company is delighted to acquire the three projects as a part of its portfolio diversification adding renewable projects.
“These projects are consistent with Dominion’s promotion of a portfolio of efficient conventional, nuclear and renewable resources,” added Christian.
US-based international engineering and construction firm AMEC is contracted to build the three facilities.
Indianapolis Power and Light Company, meanwhile, will procure the power output from the plants through 15-year power purchase agreements.
