US solar energy developer SolarReserve appointed SgurrEnergy as technical advisor on a project involving the financing and construction of Letsatsi and Lesedi solar PV power plants in South Africa. Eachย plant has a capacity of approximately 75 MW.

Our scope of work included:

  • Solar resource assessment
  • Outlining of plant designs
  • Energy yield predictions
  • Drafting of technical content relating to the projectsโ€™ EPC and O&M contracts
  • Appraisal of contractor proposals.

SgurrEnergyโ€™s advisory work helped contribute to SolarReserve securing the financing necessary to deliver these landmark projects, which are currently in construction.

The Letsasi and Lesedi solar plants were among the first large scale plants built through the South African Department of Energyโ€™s (DOE) Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurementย Programme (REIPPP). Between them, both plants will generate enough clean energy to power more than 50,000 homes.
