RMT has completed turbine installation and energized the electrical system for First Wind’s 21MW KWP II Wind project in Maui, Hawaii, US.

Construction on the project began in 2011, where RMT is responsible for providing engineering, procurement, and construction of the civil and electrical infrastructure, including the deployment of 14 units of GE SE 1.5MW wind turbine.

It is also responsible for tower erection, operations and maintenance building remodel, SCADA system, and storm water management design.ย The civil infrastructure includes roads, crane paths and pads, and turbine foundations, while the electrical infrastructure includes a 34.5/69kV substation, 34.5kV electrical collection system, and interconnection to the 69kV Maui Electric Company transmission line.

KWP II is an expansion of the existing 30MW Kaheawa Wind and it will have a combined capacity of 51MW; it is expected to be completed in early 2012.
