Palisades nuclear power plant in Michigan, US has restarted operations after more than a month shutdown.
The plant, owned by energy firm Entergy, was shut down on 5 May 2013 after water leak from a tank was reported.
Investigators have found a crack around a nozzle on one of the tanks of the plant and have confirmed that the rupture has led to radioactive water leakage into Lake Michigan.
The company redesigned the tank bottom, which now features a new asphalt embedded fiberboard subflooring that will provide a reliable support for the aluminum tank floor.
Entergy has also redesigned and replaced all of the tank’s nozzles, which transport water to and from the tank.
The plant is located along Lake Michigan in Van Buren County’s Covert Township, about 80 miles east-northeast of Chicago.
