Ignite Power, a recognised leader in Africaโ€™s distributed infrastructure market, has forged a strategic alliance with the World Bankโ€™s $270 million Pro Energia+ Program in Mozambique. This collaboration represents a major step toward the companyโ€™s goal of providing clean, affordable, and technology-enabled infrastructure to many communities still awaiting reliable access to electricity.

Under the partnership, Ignite Power will work to expand its reach across Mozambique, with the ambition of connecting millions of households that remain without electricity in the coming years.

Working alongside the World Bank, Bamboo Capital Partners, who manage the programโ€™s financing facility, and FUNAE, the implementing agency, Ignite Power will use Results-Based Financing (RBF) mechanisms to extend its reach. This approach is designed to help bring power to some of Mozambiqueโ€™s most remote and underserved areas. The Pro Energia+ Program is a vital part of the World Bankโ€™s larger commitment to increasing electricity access through private sector involvement, as outlined in its Mission 300 initiative, which aims to connect 300 million people across Africa by 2030.

Arthur Houston, Managing Director of Ignite Mozambique, reflected on the partnership: โ€œWe are proud to join forces with the World Bank, Bamboo Capital Partners, and FUNAE, under the Pro Energia+ Program,โ€. He further added, โ€œThis partnership is not only a powerful endorsement of our operational model and technological edge, but also a major acceleration of our vision to connect millions more Mozambicans with clean and affordable electricity.โ€

Ignite Mozambique enters this program with a strong footprint and a proven track record of transformative impact throughout the country. Since starting operations, the company has become the leading provider of Distributed Renewable Energy (DRE) solutions, delivering affordable and clean energy in Mozambiqueโ€™s most underserved communities.

To date, Ignite Mozambique has connected over 200,000 households across seven provinces, positively affecting the lives of more than 1.2 million people. These numbers tell a story that goes far beyond data points. They capture moments such as families switching on lights for the very first time, children being able to study in the safety of well-lit homes after sunset, health clinics running essential services through the night, and small businesses expanding with the support of reliable electricity. For many hundreds of thousands in Mozambique, the Pro Energia+ initiative has turned clean energy in Mozambique from an aspirational target into an everyday reality.

This advancement stems from the companyโ€™s established presence in rural regions and its consistent attention to the priorities of the communities it serves. As they focus their efforts on regions often not covered by national electrification plans, Ignite Mozambique has demonstrated that sustainable, renewable energy solutions can be established even in areas with substantial economic and logistical obstacles.
