German Steag Solar Energy Solutions GmbH (SENS) and KGAL Investment Management GmbH & Co. KG intend to develop photovoltaic power projects in Sicily with an installed capacity of 440 MW. This includes a total of six solar parks in the provinces of Palermo and Trapani. The start of construction of the first phase is planned for the end of 2020. The plants are to be connected directly to the grid of the Italian grid operator Terna by the end of 2021 through the construction of a new transformer station.

SENS emerged from the former Gildemeister Energy Solutions in the summer of 2019. According to the company, the currently planned plants were »only the starting point« for further activities. In 2020, Italy, Spain and Germany will be the »three most important European markets« for SENS.
