Global renewable energy developer, service provider and wholesaler BayWa r.e. has acquired the consented Tralorg Wind Farm from Brookfield Renewable Partners.

The wind farm, located in South Ayrshire in the southwest of Scotland, secured planning permission in 2014. Once installed, the wind farm will have a capacity of 18.8 MW comprising of eight 2.35 MW turbines.

Matthias Taft, Board Member of BayWa AG, commented: โ€œWe are extremely pleased to have acquired the Tralorg wind farm and to be continuing our successful role in project development in Scotland. Once fully operational, the wind farm will directly contribute to the Scottish Governmentโ€™s objectives to generate the equivalent of 100 per cent of Scotland’s gross annual electricity consumption from renewables by 2020.โ€ ย

The wind farm is one of the few UK onshore wind farms to benefit from a 15-year Contract for Difference (CfD), effectively guaranteeing the price for the electricity generated for 15 years.

Gordon MacDougall, Managing Director, BayWa r.e. UK Ltd, added: โ€œWith planning secured and enabling works complete we are perfectly positioned to take this project into the construction and delivery phase. We expect to see the wind farm installed and operational by the end of 2019. We look forward to working with the local community and other stakeholders to deliver this project.โ€
