GE Renewable Energy announced it has signed a framework agreement with UKA Group to install approximately 250 MW of wind energy across 12 future project sites throughout Germany. In addition, the company received a firm order for 30 MW of new wind capacity at UKA Group’s Duben Süd wind farm in Brandenburg. The agreement was signed in conjunction with a visit from Jeff Immelt, GE’s Chairman & CEO, and represents GE’s largest wind collaboration in the country to date.
Anne McEntee, President & CEO of GE’s Onshore Wind business said, “We are pleased to be extending our ongoing cooperation with the UKA team. Our collaboration on the first phase of the Duben Süd project last year was very successful, and this agreement will help us mutually plan for a significant pipeline of new projects over the next few years.”
The Duben Süd order consists of 11 of GE’s 2.75-120 machines and represents the second phase of a 2015 installation of nine similar machines in a nearby location, bringing the total combined capacity to approximately 55 MW of wind energy. The order also includes a 15-year full services agreement.
The larger UKA Group framework agreement calls for 12 proposed sites to receive approximately 73 units of what will likely be GE’s 3.4-137 machine, part of its new 3 MW wind platform unveiled late last year. The new units feature software and analytics capabilities that are compatible with GE’s Digital Wind Farmecosystem.
“Our new 3 MW machines are well-suited for a variety of wind conditions throughout this region, and we plan to back up each of these projects with a services agreement that will enable the UKA team to take advantage of our latest digital technology,” said McEntee.
The Duben Süd project is expected to be operational later this year, and the larger framework agreement calls for installations beginning in 2018.
