Wind turbine manufacturer Suzlon, through its subsidiary REpower UK, has secured turbines supply contracts totaling 16.4MW for two farms in England.

Renewable energy provider Infinergy will employ four MM82 turbines at an 8.2MW farm in Wear Point, South Wales while Triodos Renewables & GENeco will install four MM92 turbines at the Avonmouth wind farm.

Construction at both projects is scheduled to commence in mid-2013 and expected to completed by December.

REpower UK managing director Rick Eggleston remarked that the two contract mark a good beginning for 203 following a successful year in 2012 where the company signed deals worth 300MW.

“We are pleased to continue our relationship with Triodos Renewables Plc for their Avonmouth Wind Farm, as well as John Laing and Infinergy for the Weir Point development in South Wales – we look forward to building on these relationships through 2013 and beyond.”

The farm at Wear Point is a new installation while the additional turbines at Avonmouth will enhance the renewable energy generation at Wessex Water’s sewage treatment works and add to the energy production from anaerobic digestion at the site.

Wear Point and Avonmouth wind farms are projected to generate combined power to meet the needs of 10,000 homes.
