GE Renewable Energy has booked an order to supply and install turbines for the 300-MW Sitac Kabini wind project in India’s Gujarat state.

For its customer, a joint venture formed by France’s EDF Renewables and Indian investor SITAC Group, GE Renewable Energy will supply 112 units of 2.7-MW turbines with 132-metre rotor.

Installation and commissioning will be carried out over the next year, GE said. Once the wind farm is in operation, it will be capable of serving a population of more than 1.3 million.

Sitac Kabini will operate under a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) which SITAC and the renewables unit of French utility EDF secured in a competitive tender process in 2018. As a result, the wind farm’s output will be sold to the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), a public company controlled by India’s Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.
