French nuclear energy company, Areva has reported a 5.3% growth in consolidated sales revenue to EUR9.342bn in 2012 from a year ago.

The company said that the sales revenue increase reflects growth in both nuclear and renewable operations.

Sales revenue of nuclear operations reached EUR8.633bn in 2012, a 2.4% increase compared with EUR8.426bn in 2011.

During the same period, the Renewable Energies BG reported EUR572m in sales revenue, a sharp increase of 92.3% when compared with 2011.

Commenting on the latest results, Areva chief executive Luc Oursel said the company has achieved progress in the various components of the Action 2016 plan after the first year of its deployment.

“The increase of more than 10% in nuclear order intake for the year illustrates the commercial vitality of the group in recurring operations,” Oursel added.

“The renewal of backlog in 2012, which represents nearly five years of sales revenue, gives the group a long-term visibility.”
