RWE and France-based energy producer Valorem have entered a partnership agreement to jointly bid in tender calls for a wind farm near the island of Oléron in France.

The project is to be located 40km offshore with 1GW of installed capacity. The anticipated commissioning date is between 2032 and 2033.

Considered to be at the farthest point from the French coast with water depths of 60m, the project area covers 180km². Tender calls were launched in October 2022 and a winner could be announced in 2024.

RWE and Valorem plan to participate jointly in the competitive dialogue, the next step in the tender procedure after prequalification.

Valorem deputy managing director Bertrand Guidez stated: “Valorem is a pioneer of green energies in France with nearly 30 years of experience in the development of the energy resources of the territories… Valorem likes to develop innovation around its projects – whether in citizen financing solutions, professional integration or environmental preservation.
