The Vietnamese companies Rox Energy Global and RECA LLC have signed two investment arrangements with the Kyrgyz government to build the Kyrgyzstan 1.9GW solar project in the hamlet of Kyzyl-Uruk in the Issyk-Kul region.

The Minister of Energy, RECA LLC, and Rox Energy Global all agreed to an investment agreement for the Kyrgyzstan 1.9GW solar project. The project is in its early stages right now and is expected to be finished by 2027. It will be paid for by money from international investors. It will be one of the biggest solar projects in the area once it is up and running.

The parties spoke about the future of working together on renewable energy projects during the conference, focussing on the Kyrgyzstan 1.9GW solar project. The ministry added that the conference to sign the deal also spoke about land allotment, connecting to the grid, and governmental assistance. Foreign investment will pay for the project.

The Minister of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic, Taalaibek Ibrayev, visited the Issyk-Kul area earlier this month to check on the first steps taken to prepare for the building of the Kyrgyzstan 1.9GW solar project.

The company says that development on the solar farm is already underway. They have shipped equipment to the site, put up modular housing and offices, are working on getting energy to the site, and are building access roads. Next, the land will be levelled so that the solar panels can be put up.

The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) said at the end of last year that Kyrgyzstan had 0MW of installed solar power. This shows that the country’s solar business is still in its early stages, and the Kyrgyzstan 1.9GW solar project could be a landmark development.
