Thai wind project developer Wind Energy Holding will commence operations at the 207MW West Huay Bong 2 and 3 wind farms in Nakhon Ratchasima.

Located at Dan Khun Thod and Theparak districts of northeastern Thailand, the wind farms were developed by the subsidiaries of West Energy Holding.

Total investment for the development of the farms aggregated to THB13bn (U$495m). Wind Energy Holding chief executive officer Nopporn Suppipat told Pattaya Mail that each wind farm features 45 wind turbines totaling 103.5MW capacity.

“Wind power is inexhaustible and clean. It lessens our dependence on diminishing fossil energy and it is in accord with the government’s target to increase production of alternative energy to 9,201 MW, including 1,200 MW of wind energy, in 2021,” Nopporn said.

The two farms will supply power to the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) as well as other customers and support the company’s plans to generate a combined 1,000 MW wind energy by 2020.
