Siemens reported solid progress toward its 2030 sustainability targets, confirming measurable advances across all 14 DEGREE goals in fiscal 2025. For the second consecutive year, the company enabled customers to avoid more emissions over the lifetime of its offerings than it generated across its value chain and said this momentum reflects steady movement toward Siemens’ sustainability targets for 2030. The company also expanded the reach of its Robust Eco Design approach, which now covers more than two-thirds of the relevant portfolio, extended its external learning programs to more than one million people globally, and confirmed that over half of its eligible revenue aligns with EU taxonomy standards. Siemens marked another milestone by publishing its first CSRD-compliant Sustainability Statement as an audited part of its Annual Reports.

“When sustainability and business strategies converge and are executed with speed and scale, organizations are best positioned for growth and resilience”, emphasized Judith Wiese, Chief People and Sustainability Officer and member of the Managing Board of Siemens AG. “At Siemens, we empower our customers to do exactly that – accelerate their digital and sustainability transformations by combining the real and the digital worlds. Yet technology only reaches its full potential when it’s accessible to everyone, and that starts with empowering people to master the skills of tomorrow. That’s why we are committed to driving continuous learning and aim to empower three million people globally by 2030 through our learning offerings, with a focus on sustainability and digitalization.”

Siemens said the DEGREE framework continues to guide its work across decarbonization and energy efficiency, resource efficiency and circularity, and people centricity and society, all built on a foundation of ethical principles and strong governance, ensuring steady progress toward the Siemens sustainability targets.

In decarbonization, Siemens pointed to the combined role of software, hardware and industrial AI in advancing electrification, renewables integration and energy-efficiency improvements. Industrial AI can generate up to 30 percent energy savings in infrastructure platforms and cut manufacturing CO₂ emissions by 24 percent. Offerings sold over the past three fiscal years are projected to avoid 694 million metric tons of emissions over their lifetime, equivalent to Germany’s total emissions in 2024. Siemens also reduced its own CO₂e emissions by 66 percent since 2019 without using carbon credits and remains on track to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 90 percent by 2030.

“With more than 90 percent of our business enabling customers to achieve a positive sustainability impact in our three key impact areas, we’re uniquely positioned to empower them to become more competitive, resilient and sustainable,” said Eva Riesenhuber, Global Head of Sustainability at Siemens. “Even further, our Sustainability Statement 2025 provides measurable proof that our impact on societal infrastructure goes beyond our customers and our own business transformation to reach, ultimately, our planet and society.”

Siemens reported continued progress in resource efficiency and circularity. Its Robust Eco Design approach covered 67 percent of the relevant portfolio in fiscal 2025, guiding how Siemens designs its hardware, software, and services to cut environmental impact. Biodiversity work also expanded, with implementation at relevant sites rising from 18 percent in fiscal 2024 to 55 percent in fiscal 2025. The company surpassed its interim 2025 DEGREE target for zero waste to landfill as well, reducing waste by more than 50 percent from the fiscal 2021 baseline.

In people-centricity and society, Siemens stressed the need for lifelong learning as the pace of change accelerates. Employees logged 36.6 annual learning hours per person in fiscal 2025, up 2.4 hours from the previous year, with strong participation in AI and machine-learning training. A high Work Well-being Score pointed to solid job satisfaction, a sense of purpose, and balanced stress levels across the company. Beyond its workforce, Siemens’ external learning offerings in sustainability and digitalization have reached well over one million people worldwide, supporting its goal of empowering three million people globally by 2030 and reinforcing the societal dimension of the Siemens sustainability targets.

Governance and digital trust remain central pillars of Siemens’ sustainability strategy. Zero Trust cybersecurity coverage increased to 62 percent of relevant applications, up from 16 percent in fiscal 2024. More than half of the company’s eligible revenue meets the EU taxonomy criteria for climate-change mitigation and circularity. Siemens said its audited Sustainability Statement provides clear and comparable insight into how sustainability is embedded across the organization and how strategic priorities translate into measurable action for customers, operations, and society.
