Kentz Corporation, through its operating unit Kentz, has secured a $45m EPC contract for the 75MWp Kalkbult Solar Photovoltaic project in Northern Cape, South Africa.

Scatec Solar, which is developing the Kalkbult Solar PV Project, has selected the company to undertake engineering, procurement and construction services at the plant.

The project is estimated to complete in January 2014 and is significant to the Phase 1 of the 3,725MW Renewable Energy IPP Procurement Program of the South African Department of Energy.

Kentz Group Chief Executive Christian Brown commented that the company continues to develop its EPC capabilities in the African region and the Scatec Solar project expands its range of EPC contracts.

“Additionally, the award of such a key project for South African renewable energy will position us to contribute to the development of further renewable energy projects across the continent and beyond,” Brown added.
