German solar energy company has completed the development of 4.5MW solar plant in a contract with solar PV developer, Lightsource Renewable Energy.

The solar plant located in Hampshire, England, features 18,500 modules on Conergy SolarLinea mounting systems.

It is expected to produce 4,600MWh solar power per year to cater to the power needs of around 1,350 homes.

Citing its previous alliance with Conergy, Lightsource CEO Nick Boyle noted that its contractor delivered under pressure of a tight deadline.

“The results of solar PV installations in the first quarter of this year show we are well on track in achieving the government’s target of 22GW installed by 2020,” added Boyle.

Lightsource, meanwhile, will own and operate the plant for next 25 years. The growth of solar farms UK is said to be driven by government-mandated Renewable Obligation Certificates (ROCs) and solar-specific Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs).

Conergy UK managing director Robert Goss has stated: “Energy prices meanwhile continue to rise, driving growth in residential installations and large-rooftop projects. Put together, we expect annual growth in UK solar of around 13% over the next few years.”
