Solar projects developer PR Fonroche and part of the India-based Mahindra Group Mahindra EPC will collaborate together to develop a 5MW solar photo voltaic (PV) plant in Rajasthan under the National Solar Mission’s Phase I Batch II.

Proposed to be located in the Gajner Village of Bikaner district, the project is among the two proposed by the partnership to provide 20MW to the region.

The plant is will be spread across a 40a site and employ over 67,200 solar PV modules from First Solar USA and four power transformers.

Funded by Fonroche, the solar plant will have the capacity to produce 9 million units of clean energy, while cutting down about 7200 million tons of CO2 annually.

Mahindra EPC will provide the complete design, engineering, procurement and construction services for the plant with construction encompassing a 2.7Km, 33kV double circuit transmission line to supply power to the nearby grid substation.

Initiated under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM) scheme, the project serves to enhance India’s solar PV generation to 20,000MW by 2020.

Fonroche CEO Thierry Carcel commented on the partnership saying, “We combine our experience, technical expertise and our solid know-how to finance, develop and build efficient solar plants and enable our utility partners to secure high-quality renewable generation assets in India.”
