Indian hydro-mechanical equipment manufacturer Om Metals Infraprojects has concluded the installation and commissioning of three radial gates at the 231MW Chamera III hydro-electric project in India.
Located in the Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh, the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) project is a run of river scheme on river Ravi.
Om Metals provided the design, fabrication, supply, installation, testing and commissioning services of the first kind of its radial gates, where each radial gate comprises four trunions instead of two.
The scope of the hydro-mechanical works is valued at INR670m ($12.5m), while the project is expected to generate 1,104 million units of power a year.
Om Metals business development director Vikas Kothari stated that this project is a significant development in the Indian hydro-mechanical sector since it signifies a complicate design under stringent and demanding weather conditions.
