Danish wind turbines manufacturer Vestas Wind Systems has secured a 20-year agreement for a joint venture 299MW Blackspring Ridge wind project for EDF EN Canada and Enbridge in Canada.

The contract mandates Vestas to supply 166 V100-1.8 MW wind turbines alongside 20-year service and maintenance with Active Output Management (AOM) 5000 service option.

Vestas US and Canada sales and service president Chris Brown said the company appreciates the long-term agreement with the power companies, adding that it reflects their confidence in Vestas’ efficient delivery capability.

“This project also will increase our market leadership position in Canada and further builds on our strong service business in Alberta,” added Brown.

Meanwhile, Vestas has scheduled the delivery of the wind turbines for the project located at Lethbridge, Alberta during the second half of 2013. Commissioning of the project is expected to begin by mid-2014.

Following its commissioning, the project will meet the power needs of nearly 140,000 households, the company added.
