The Al Hada Gas Plant project, with an estimated investment exceeding $10 billion, is moving into a critical procurement phase in Saudi Arabia. Saudi Aramco is currently finalizing three major engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC tenders) for this large-scale development. Industry timelines suggest the official documentation for these packages could be released as early as December 2026.
Scope of the Al Hada Gas Plant Development
The procurement strategy for the Al Hada Gas Plant is divided into three distinct segments to facilitate the construction of essential gas infrastructure.
EPC Tenders Breakdown
- The first package focuses on primary gas treatment facilities, including three processing trains, acid gas removal units, and triethylene glycol dehydration systems. It also includes the installation of flare infrastructure.
- The second package is dedicated to the development of sulphur recovery units, which are vital for environmental management during the gas processing cycle.
- The third package covers common utilities, monoethylene glycol inlet channels, and supporting structures necessary for the plant’s operations.
Advancing Saudi Arabia’s Energy Objectives
This initiative is a core component of the broader strategy by Saudi Aramco to significantly boost domestic natural gas production. The target is to achieve an 80% increase in natural gas output by 2030, using the 2021 production baseline as a reference. By expanding processing capabilities, the project aims to strengthen the supply of energy to both industrial facilities and power generation plants across the Kingdom.
Located approximately 85 kilometers northwest of Jubail in the Eastern Province, the site sits within a well-established industrial corridor. Following the submission of expressions of interest in September 2026, the industry is now awaiting the formal release of the EPC tenders. This process represents a significant opportunity for international contractors experienced in large-scale construction and industrial energy projects to participate in the Kingdom’s growing gas infrastructure portfolio.
