TOS Energy Malaysia Sdn Bhd (hereinafter TOSEM), a Toshiba Group company, will be participating in Conference of Electric Power Supply Industry (CEPSI 2018) at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, from September 17-22.

Organized by Association of the Electricity Supply Industry of East Asia and Western Pacific (AESIEAP), Tenaga Nasional Bhd, Malaysia’s largest electricity utility provider, will be hosting CEPSI2018 and the event is expected to see over 6,000 delegates.

At the event, TOSEM will be featuring Toshiba’s capabilities in the energy sector including new alternative renewable technologies such as Toshiba’s hydrogen-based autonomous energy supply system, which uses renewable energy to provide a stable supply of electricity to off-grid communities. Another green technology is the Toshiba SCiB™ lithium-ion battery, a highly safe rechargeable super-charge ion battery which is widely used in power plants to promote power grid stabilization and other applications such as vehicle, industrial and infrastructure segments.

In addition, TOSEM will showcase the future of maintenance technology with the robotic inspection service to value-add its existing offering of steam turbine and generator life extension and retrofitting services. Digitalization is also another area which the company will be focusing on as virtual power plants will promote capacity utilization enhancement and efficient asset management using artificial intelligence and predictability for smoother plant operations.

Toshiba Group has extensive experience of large-scale power plants in Malaysia, including joint construction of the  Jimah coal-fired power plant (700MW x 2 units) and Tanjung Bin coal-fired power plant (700MW x 3 units). Toshiba also completed the TNB Port Dickson Phase 2, a combined-cycle power generation project (750MW x 1 unit), as an EPC contractor.

The latest project is the Jimah East Coal Fired Power Plant, one of the world’s largest coal-fired power plants now under construction. Toshiba Group will supply and install two units of 1,000MW ultra-super critical steam turbines, generators and related equipment. The power plant is expected to be fully operational in December 2019.

Tapping on the company’s extensive global expertise and strong presence in Malaysia, TOSEM will showcase a comprehensive range of power generation and maintenance and after sales services, to make safe and reliable operations possible.
