Ray Riddoch, Nexen’s UK Managing Director (MD) and senior vice president Europe, has been appointed to the prestigious Board of Directors at Oil & Gas UK.

Ray will represent the operator community, bringing more than 30 years’ oil and gas industry experience to the Board, including extensive experience in senior positions in Nexen and in other major

Ray says: “I am delighted to be appointed to represent the operator community on the Board of Oil & Gas UK. Nexen understands the importance of addressing the current challenges facing our industry at this time.

“The industry is putting a great deal of effort into improving its performance and I look forward to working with the other members of the Board, to encourage co-operation across the sector and working together to sustain a long term future for the North Sea.”

Ray replaces former Nexen MD Archie Kennedy, who held the role of treasurer and retired from Nexen in July. The treasurer’s role has now been taken up by Craig May of Chevron who thanked Archie for his contribution to the Board.

Deirdre Michie, Oil & Gas UK’s chief executive adds: “Our industry is challenged by the low price of oil and high cost of operating and efforts are strongly focused on making the changes required to restore competitiveness in this new business environment.”
