US-based REC Solar has completed installation of solar energy systems for Peter Rabbit Farms in Coachella and Amaral Ranches in Imperial Valley, California.

The solar installations have a combined capacity of 1MW and will enable the farms to reduce their energy related costs.

Peter Rabbit Farms and Amaral Ranches join over 300 California farmers and ranchers turning to solar energy sources to cut down utility bills.

REC Solar installed a 358KW solar system at Peter Rabbit Farms; the system contributes to 40% of the energy use and will bring $80,000 in annual savings.

Peter Rabbit Farms president and CEO John Powell remarked that the system reduces their usage of non-renewable power, while cutting overall energy costs.

At Amaral Ranches, REC Solar installed a 605KW system that enables the farm to offset over 70% of its growing and cold storage operations.

Amaral Ranches owner Carlos Amaral stated, “The system has delivered impressive savings so far while helping us reduce our environmental footprint.”

REC Solar business development director Ryan Park added, “We’re working with increasing numbers of farmers and ranchers turning to solar energy to cut costs and maintain global competitiveness.”
