Siemens Gamesa has secured €300 million ($363.5 million) in funding from the European Investment Bank to implement its analysis, improvement and innovation (RDI) plan throughout 2020-2023.

The funding features a €150 million ($181.7 million) mortgage. Siemens Gamesa will use the mortgage to fund its innovation initiatives in analysis and improvement centres in Spain (Navarra, Vizcaya and Madrid) and Denmark (Aalborg and Brande).

RDI actions will embrace the event of progressive options for optimising the assorted parts of a wind turbine, new purposes for turbine upkeep and diagnostic providers, and laptop purposes for optimising processes and power manufacturing, starting from blockchain to digital actuality and synthetic intelligence.

Innovation and technological developments are very important to proceed growing options to handle local weather change by supplying clear power in a means that’s more and more environment friendly and sustainable.

Overall, Siemens Gamesa will allocate as much as 45% of complete capital expenditure to R&D. Ricardo Mourinho Félix, EIB vice-president and head of the Bank’s operations in Spain, mentioned: “As the EU’s local weather financial institution, we’re delighted to be supporting Siemens Gamesa’s RDI technique to drive innovation within the discipline of renewable power and thereby contribute to sustainable financial development and job creation in Spain and Denmark throughout such a vital time.

“This challenge will improve the competitiveness of this main European firm by growing extra sustainable processes and merchandise, and demonstrates the EIB’s agency dedication to innovation and to wash energies as very important parts in attaining the European goal of local weather neutrality by 2050.”
