Gamesa has secured a contract from Casa dos Ventos Energias Renovaveis to provide 105xG97-2.0MW turbines with a total capacity of 210MW for the Chapada wind farm being built in Chapada do Araripe in the state of Piaui, Brazil.

Gamesa will also be responsible for installing and commissioning the turbines as well as provide five-year maintenance for the project under an agreement in principal signed by the companies.

To be manufactured at Gamesa’s Camacari factory, the turbines are set to be delivered after the first quarter of 2015 with the project set to come online in the second half of the same year.

Gamesa Southern Cone managing director Edgard Corrochano said the new contract shows the company’s commitment to support local community development, creating jobs and sharing its know-how with local suppliers.
