Northern Powergrid, the company responsible for the power network in the North East, Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire, has restored power to all its customers whose electricity supply was affected after Storm Eleanor hit the region.

Rod Gardner, Northern Powergrid’s head of network operations, said: “Our staff have worked hard to deal with and restore power to all the 11,310 customers affected by Storm Eleanor. Our preparations enabled us to respond effectively, and whilst the worst of the winds have now passed, we will remain prepared until the Met Office weather warning for high winds has passed at 7pm this evening.

“We’d like to thank our customers for their patience whilst we worked to restore their power.”

Northern Powergrid understands the importance of being informed in a power cut so it’s reminding customers that its website, northernpowergrid.com, has an easy-to-use power cut map which customers can use to get real-time updates and find advice about what to do in a power cut should they have a power cut in the future.

It is encouraging customers to bookmark Northern Powergrid’s website, add 105 – the free national power cut line – to their mobile phone, and consider signing up to its free text update service. By sharing their mobile phone number with the electricity distributor, it can text updates about what’s happening and when customers’ power will be back on.  To register for free text updates customers should visit https://www.northernpowergrid.com/update-my-details-media
