Spanish renewable energy company Iberdrola has commissioned two wind projects, El Candal and El Segredal wind farms, in Asturias, Spain.

The two wind projects have a combined power generation capacity of 74MW, which will meet the electricity requirements of 25,000 households in Asturias.

The 38MW El Candal wind farm located between the towns of Castropol and Boal is installed with 19 wind turbines, and 36MW El Segregal, which has 18 wind turbines, is located in Villayón.

In addition, the two wind farms will reduce nearly 100,000 tons emission of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere each year.

With these projects, Iberdrola’s power generation capacity has risen to 5,700MW across its project portfolio in Spain.

Currently, the company has a total capacity of 14,000 MW with electrical output of almost 31,800 million kilowatt hours that was recorded in 2012.
